(tb) Deutsche Post is simplifying the delivery of packages from commercial providers to Packstations on a trial basis. Customers of an initial 20 shipping companies will soon be able to have packages delivered directly to Packstations without prior registration. When placing an order, they simply enter the address of a Packstation as the delivery address. As soon as they can pick up their package, they will receive an email notification. Previously, this was only possible with prior registration.

Direct delivery to Packstations should not be confused with pickup from the same location arranged by the courier. If the courier cannot deliver a shipment to the front door, they will take it either to a branch or to a Packstation for pickup. The recipient will then find a notification card in their mailbox.

The new service will be tested for one year. After that, Deutsche Post will decide whether to offer direct delivery to Packstations without registration for all business customers.
