(tb) Was the current President of the United States involved in the Declaration of Independence? Well, it's probably not entirely out of the question that he himself believed he was. After all, he also calculated that the Gaza War, which began with the Hamas terror attacks of October 7, 2023, would last 3000 years.
Mathematically speaking, the Declaration of Independence of 1776 will be 250 years old next year. It dates back to a time when even the Bavarian grandparents of the current POTUS – President of the United States – were not yet born. Meanwhile, he has come up with an idea that, while illegal, still has a chance of being implemented.
A commemorative one-dollar coin is planned for the anniversary. The design will feature portraits of the current president on both sides. This would likely be the first time an honored figure has appeared on both the obverse and reverse of a US commemorative coin. The depiction of a current president would also be unprecedented – previous presidents have respected the explicit legal prohibition against having their portraits on coins during their lifetime.
No final decision has yet been made as to whether the coin will be issued in the proposed form. Perhaps we will see the authors and signatories of the Declaration of Independence featured on the coin in 2026.
